Can metal materials convey the softness and drape of fabric? Recently, BLT supported Dalian Xingyi Metal Technology Co., Ltd. in producing a metal automotive curtain display piece, leveraging 3D printing to infuse the artwork with technological and artistic elements.
The display piece adopts a design where a curtain drapes over a car. With a dimension of 299mm×140mm×220mm (W×D×H) and a wall thickness of only 2mm, it is 3D- printed from stainless steel using the double-laser BLT-S400, achieving integrated forming. The BLT product team overcame the deformation challenges in the production process, resulting in a highly realistic display piece with smooth and gentle curves. It not only captures the softness and thinness of the draped curtain, but also achieves a metallic sheen without the need for secondary processing through precise control of surface roughness.
Since establishing its partnership with Dalian Xingyi last year, BLT has been providing comprehensive metal additive manufacturing solutions centered around their machines & systems. With BLT’s technical support, Dalian Xingyi has further enhanced its capabilities in developing aerospace components. Looking ahead, BLT remains committed to the metal additive manufacturing field, empowering more commercial aerospace customers to achieve rapid R&D and efficient small-batch customization of components, thus helping realize their dreams of space exploration.
