BLT Helps Research in Nature Communications on Bone Repair

A study on 3D-printed zinc-based porous scaffolds for bone repair was published in Nature Communications. The research was conducted by teams from Beihang University, Renji Hospital-Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tsinghua University and Peking University. The study developed a novel approach to 3D-printed zinc scaffolds for large bone defects. It addressed the challenge of toxicity from rapid degradation of porous zinc structures. The researchers optimized alloy composition, surface microstructure, and pore geometry. This innovation creates a more favorable environment for bone regeneration. The results “Multiscale architecture design of 3D printed biodegradable Zn-based porous scaffolds for immunomodulatory osteogenesis” was published on Nature Communications, whose IF was 16.6 at the time.
